John R. Dawkins, III – begins career in Insurance – later formsProgressive Insurance Agency. 


Merger of Progressive Insurance Agency with Johnson Sumner Morse Agency located at 402 East Washington Street, Rockingham NC , John R. Dawkins, III becomes General Manager of 
Johnson Sumner Morse 


John R. Dawkins, III purchases Johnson Sumner Morse and renames as Progressive Insurors, Inc. 

February 1998

Purchases the “old” Richmond County Health Department Building located at 870 Rockingham Road, Rockingham NC and begins complete renovation/remodel of building for future home of
Progressive Insurors, Inc. 

September 1998

Remodel of the new location at 870 Rockingham Road, Rockingham NC for Progressive Insurors, Inc , is completed and the agency closes the location at 402 East Washington Street, Rockingham NC.

October 9, 1998

Grand Opening of Progressive Insurors, Inc, at 870 Rockingham Road, Rockingham NC, including Ribbon cutting with Richmond County Chamber of Commerce. 

January 1999

John's son, Jonathan Dawkins, joined the agency carrying forward the family owned agency into the 2nd Generation of ownership. 

October 2001

Progressive Insurors, Inc, changes name to Dawkins & Associates Insurors, Inc., to more reflect the family owned aspect of the agency since 1975 by John R. Dawkins, III and future ownership by his son Jonathan Dawkins.
